LONDON: Make your own felt slippers
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October 2026
10am-4pm
Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent’s Park Road, NW1 7AY
(closest transport: Camden (Northern line) or Camden Road (overground)
There's something quietly satisfying about making something you're going to wear from scratch. This workshop teaches you how to do exactly that: turn fluffy sheep's wool into a pair of felt slippers, shaped and fitted to your own feet, using a technique that's kept people warm for thousands of years — long before synthetic fabrics existed.
You'll learn the whole process by hand: felting the wool, sewing the slippers together, and decorating them your own way, so you go home with something genuinely yours — no two pairs turn out the same. It's a lovely antidote to fast fashion and you’ll have slippers to keep your feet warm through the winter weather.
Timetable:
Saturday: Learn about the principles of felting and make flat felt using your choice of single or blended colours of wool.
Sunday: Use the felt you made on Saturday to make your slippers: cut out the shape according to the style of slipper you want and appliqué or embroider decorations to finish.
This is a participatory, hands-on course where you’ll have a chance to learn by doing in a collaborative, fun atmosphere.
What you will need: a waterproof apron
What you will take away: a pair of felt slippers
No experience necessary.
Positive comments about my style of teaching:
“Very good – super relaxed and friendly while being full of info” – Maz
“Great hands-on learning” – Betty
“Relaxed, informative. Very knowledgeable” – Yvonne
“ Very knowledgeable, always willing to answer questions and very generous with time and materials.” – Sophie
