Introduction to felting – 4 week evening course

£150.00

Thursday evenings
6.30pm-9pm
October 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th 2025

Kentish Town City Farm, NW5 4BB
(closest transport: Gospel Oak (overground), Kentish Town (Northern line and Thameslink)

Come along to learn all about felt. Felt has kept us warm for thousands of years. Sheep’s wool has the amazing property of being able to combine the hairs to form a tough fabric (it was used as a form of armour!) that can be used as vessels, for clothes and even tents. This course will explore how to make felt through the process of making a piece of flat felt, a bowl, a bag and applying appliqué.

Timetable:

Week 1: Learn about the principles of felting and make some flat felt.

Week 2: We’ll use a resist to make a patterned felt bowl.

Week 3: We’ll use a resist to make a bag.

Week 4: We’ll apply the flat felt as appliqué to the bag and make the handle.

This is a participatory, hands-on course where you’ll have a chance to learn by doing in a collaborative, fun atmosphere.

What you will need: a waterproof apron
What you will take away: a felt bowl and felt bag

No experience necessary.
